Gold Fields are currently seeking Technician: Dispatch to join the Surface Mining Team at St Ives.


Reporting to the Superintendent: Surface Mining, you will provide quality and timely preventative maintenance and repairs of the Open Pit Fleet Management System as required to ensure targets are met in a safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient manner in alignment with GFA and operation specific quality procedures and statutory regulations.


This role is offered on 8 days on 6 days off roster and would require the incumbent to be residential in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie.

About the role:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are always adhered to.
  • Ensure that the company has the capacity to achieve Zero Harm by actively identifying and reporting hazards using the sites hazard reporting system.
  • Conduct installation and commissioning of the Fleet Management System High and Low precision GPS equipment on surface mobile equipment.
  • Carry out breakdown repairs in the fields and ensure that all Fleet Management System equipment is always in good working conditions through routine preventative maintenance.
  • Continual improvement of the Fleet Management and supporting systems in the mining environment by providing reliable and accurate maintenance knowledge, expertise and practical application, to minimize down time and subsequent loss of production.
  • Manage Fleet Management System hardware inventory to ensure availability of spare parts as required.
  • Maximize return on assets through effective utilization and care of maintenance equipment and tools with due consideration of safety and environmental issues




About you:

  • Having successfully completed a trade in Auto Electrician, Radio Technician or equivalent
  • Previous experience in Komatsu and Caterpillar fleets
  • Previous experience working with Wenco, Modular, Jigsaw or MineStar
  • Previous experience working with Collision avoidance Systems.
  • Previous experience working with LTE,
  • Holding a valid WA driver’s license is mandatory.
  • Previous experience working with Motorola telecommunications.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Demonstrated high level of safety standards and work behaviours.
  • Understanding of Wireless Networks and Solar Power Systems
