Position Summary:

The Engineering Department of Tarkwa Gold Mine (CIL & Crushers sections) seeks to employ an experienced and outstanding individual to fill an Artisan III – Fitter position. The successful applicant will apply knowledge and experience to identify and repair faults and liaise with other units within the department to improve the delivery of the section and assisting mechanics to carry out maintenance work in the section.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute daily routine work according to policies and procedures within prescribed guidelines with emphasis on quality and quantity of work output
  • Apply knowledge of standards, methods and procedures to all work situations, planned and urgent
  • Execute duties in a responsible manner with quality of work as priority
  • Carry out routine maintenance, strip and assemble gearboxes, cone crushers, slurry and water pumps, wet grinding mill components dewatering pumps and other ancillary equipment
  • Contribute to ensuring cohesiveness of a team
  • Put in intentional efforts to eliminating wastage
  • Work with groups and teams to Identify and rectify risks and hazards
  • Undertake daily routine fault tracing and maintenance of machines and report back to the supervisor
  • Suggest ways to improve performance in order to meet targets

Key Requirements:

  • Mechanical Engineering Technician Part I, II, III or NVTI Grade 2 Certificate from a recognized institution. A Higher National Diploma would be considered.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in plant equipment maintenance
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills as well as ability to interact with people of diverse culture and backgrounds.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision
  • Must have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering maintenance
  • Must have a good understanding of mechanical drives and their maintenance 
  • Must have a good knowledge of how to interpret engineering drawings
  • Must have a good knowledge of lubricants and lubrication methods
  • Must have a good knowledge on the use of mechanical hand tools, uses and measurements tools like – micrometer screw gauge, files, feeler gauges, and Vernier caliper etc.
