Role Details

The Engineering - Project department of Tarkwa Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced individual to fill an Assistant Projects Scheduler position on a two-year fixed term contract through a third-party contractor

 

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing project schedules, determining personnel and equipment requirements for specific projects as well as monitoring and expediting project material deliveries. The incumbent will also develop and monitor time schedules of projects and investigate cost saving improvements within areas of responsibility.

 

About the role:

  • Prepares and keeps current master program and project plans as well as sub-project plans for monitoring and tracking the requirement and stays abreast of changes to the requirements.
  • Assist Project Manager in creating short-term schedules, monitor such schedules to determine impact on master schedule, and help in formulating actions to correct scheduling problems.
  • Identify and record the impact of work performed and not performed as scheduled. Evaluate actual construction progress and provide regular schedule updates.
  • Interface with Project Team and Subcontractors to discuss impact of work and resolution of problems.
  • Support project management team to maintain timely and effective change management processes, procedures and systems.
  • Conduct analysis to determine alternative courses of action or recovery on slipped schedules.
  • Investigate and implement cost saving and productivity improvements within the area of responsibility and advise on appropriate action plans.
  • Maintain a safe and friendly environment to ensure effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.

About you:

  • A tertiary qualification in Project Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering & Built Environment or related field.
  • At least three (3) years relevant work experience in a projectized environment.
  • Sound knowledge of schedule systems, principles and practices required.
  • Ability to handle multiple and shifting priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to apply effective planning techniques and controls (earned value, cost and schedule variance, estimates at completion & critical path analysis).
  • Good working knowledge of Primavera, P6 and Microsoft Project and Office Applications.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills and ability to interact with people of diverse cultures.
  • Medical fitness for the position and environment.
  • A valid light duty vehicle license and proficiency in driving a light vehicle.
