Engineering Technician - Support Equipment

The Engineering Department of Damang Gold Mine is seeking to employ an experienced and self-motivated individual who will be responsible for ensuring the application of knowledge and experience to maintain and repair of heavy duty machinery in a safe, efficient and effective manner for high equipment availability and reliability, while ensuring that management systems, policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to.

About role:

• Maintain, repair and service Mobile Plant Equipment
• Be responsible for examining defective parts such as excessive wear and damage
• Ensure the cleanliness, lubrication and adjustment of equipment, parts and machinery
• Plan and participate in regular preventative maintenance inspections such as checking and lubricating bearings, gear boxes, checking and replacing filters, cleaning out wet wells, mowing and other preventative maintenance activities
• Assist with troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing parts or equipment due to failure
• Encourage inputs from the workgroups which lead to continuous improvement
• Carry out responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner, thus ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements
• Be responsible for own safety and that of others
• Ensure that areas of responsibilities are maintained to high standards of housekeeping

About you:

• An NVTI Certificate or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution
• A minimum of three (3) years experience in medium to heavy duty support equipment maintenance
• Experience in safe lifting practices
• Ability to work for long hours to obtain the required results
• Well developed oral and written communication skills  in English and an ability to relate to people of diverse cultures and levels
• Medical fitness for the position and environment

A valid Ghanaian driver’s license and a proficiency in driving a light vehicles
