Role Details
The Environment department of Damang Gold Mine is seeking to employ a self-motivated person to fill the above position. He/ She will assist in implementing all Environmental Management programs and use his/her knowledge and skills to assist the department to achieve its compliance obligations.
About the role:
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual environmental reporting to Environmental Protection Agency, Minerals Commission & Water Resources Commission
- Coordinate weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to Gold Fields
- Responsible for sitewide water management and compliance to water use KPIs
- Assist with all permitting and compliance activities of the department
- Responsible for sitewide waste management and achievement of waste KPIs
- Responsible for environmental compliance at the gold processing plant and its environs
- Coordinate climate change mitigation and adaption actions
- Collate, analyze and report on water and waste management data
- Assist in environmental incident investigation and reporting
- Assist in sitewide environmental induction and competency training
- Ensure compliance with the Water Resources Commission permit conditions
- Assist in internal environmental audits and inspections
About you:
- A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Sustainability/Natural Resources Management or related programs
- Have a minimum of four years relevant experience
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, mine standards and codes of practice
- Extensive knowledge in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Management Systems
- Relevant experience in a Surface Mining Environment
- Possess at least Health, Safety and Environment Officer Certificate of Competency from the Minerals Commission
- Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel and Power Point
- Medical fitness for the position and environment
- A valid Ghanaian driver’s license and proficiency in driving a light vehicle
