Role Details

Gold Fields Ghana Limited is seeking to employ an experienced individual to fill the position of an Expeditor on a two-year fixed term contract through a third-party contractor.

 

Reporting to the Unit Manager – Engineering Projects, the successful candidate will be responsible for tracking purchase orders, verifying progress with vendors, and communicating status updates to internal teams and clients. The incumbent will also handle documentation, inspect incoming goods, and build relationships with suppliers to prevent and address potential issues in the supply chain. 

 

About the role:

  • Coordinate and ensure timely, cost-effective transportation and delivery of goods and materials, while tracking shipments to maintain schedules.
  • Interpret contractual clauses/rates in contracts and apply them in reviewing bills of quantities and related invoices.
  • Keep track of all orders from placement to delivery and monitor the progress of projects and delivery schedules.
  •  Act as the primary point of contact with suppliers to confirm details, get progress updates, and resolve issues. 
  • Coordinate and monitor outbound shipments and work with shipping companies to ensure smooth delivery.
  •  Proactively identify and resolve potential issues that could cause delays in the supply chain. 
  • Provide regular updates on order status to project team and clients. 
  • Maintain detailed records of all communications and activities related to the orders.
  •  Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet quality standards and match order requirements. 
  • Ensure that periodic reports meet set time frames and targets.
  • Maintain a safe and friendly environment to ensure effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.

 

About you:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Purchasing & Supply Chain/Logistics management or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in in a same or similar position in the mining industry.
  • Working knowledge of procurement policies, procedures and government bylaws.
  • A detail-oriented approach that delivers consistently high-quality services to deadline within a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work within tight timelines while maintaining accuracy and efficiency of assigned tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven knowledge in SAP Procurement Module or similar packages and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical skills, self-reliant, results oriented, decisive and have a sense of urgency.
  • Must be medically fit for the position and environment.
