Role Details:
Gold Fields Ghana is seeking to employ an experienced and qualified individual for the position of Mine Planning Engineer II who will be responsible for various mine planning functions in a high-volume selective mining environment and provide technical and operational support to the mining team. The incumbent in performing the assigned responsibilities is expected to contribute to controlling the main cost drivers in the area of responsibility.
About the role:
- Develop, present and issue Weekly, Monthly and Three Monthly Mine Plans integrating grade control drilling, drill and blast, maintenance schedules, dewatering into the plan based on bench progression strategy.
- Develop practical or minable designs for implementation to ensure mine plans are realistic and achievable.
- Develop strong networks with Operations, Business Partners and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication, coordination, information transfer and efficient preparation and execution of Mine plans.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high quality and delivered in a timely manner.
- Work together with the team to drive spatial compliance to plan.
- Prepare and issue Waste Dump and Haulage Plans with input from key stakeholders
- Produce and report on weekly, monthly and annual spatial compliance to plan
- Ensure pit & waste dump designs for implementation are available and meet all technical and safety requirements.
- Ensure effective dump management from footprint preparation to rehabilitation under required legal framework.
- Provide technical support to other sections, departments and consultants as required
- Ensure haulage operations are optimized with the help of Mine Haulage Software Package
About you:
- A minimum of a Tertiary Qualification in Mining engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Work experience in open pit gold mining of which at least 5 years must have been in an open pit-planning role, preferably in a high-volume selective mining environment.
- Strongly demonstrate extensive Open Pit Planning, Designing, Scheduling and Operational experience
- Proficiency in Mining Software such as ALASTRI, DESWIK, SURPAC, DATAMINE AND WHITTLE
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and must be willing and able to acquire a site driving permit.
- Medical fitness for the position and environment.
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures.
- Teamwork, good planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Analysing and evaluating information.
Ability to use initiative, take responsibility and manage tasks through to completion
