Mining Engineer

Purpose of the job:

The Mining Department of Damang Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced and self-motivated individual for the position of Mine Planning Engineer who will be responsible for short-to-medium term Mine Planning in a high-volume selective mining environment. The incumbent, in performing the assigned responsibilities is expected to influence the main cost drivers in his/her area of responsibility

Key Responsibilities:

• Generate short term production schedules and forecasts for weekly and monthly mine plans
• Design Pits, Waste Dumps, Stockpiles, Haul Roads and other accesses
• Monitor the activities of the blasting section to control wall limits
• Prepare month-end reports
• Ensure pit and dump design implementation meet all technical and safety requirements
• Provide technical support to Mining Contractor, Mine Operations team and other stakeholders
• Assist with Drill and Blast designs, planning, scheduling, sequencing and implementation
• Develop Pit and Waste Dump schedules for three monthly and annual rolling mine plans

• Ensure compliance with ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 requirements

        Key Requirements:

• A tertiary qualification in the field of Mining Engineering from a recognised tertiary institution
• Work experience in open pit gold mining, of which at least 2 years must have been in an open cast planning role, preferably in a high-volume selective mining environment utilizing large equipment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and excellent leadership qualities
• Results-orientation to achieve production targets and medically fit for the position and environment
• Blasting Certificate will be advantageous
• Competency in Minesight, Datamine, Talpac, Xpac, Xeras and Whittle.

A valid Ghanaian driving licence and a proficiency in driving a light vehicle
