Role Details
The Health & Safety Department of Abosso Goldfields Limited - Damang Mine, is seeking to employ a self-motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of Occupational Hygiene Officer. The successful applicant will assist the Unit Manager - S&H Occupational Hygiene in the implementation and maintenance of occupational hygiene programs to ensure the health and safety of employees in accordance with relevant legislation.
About role
- Develop and implement occupational hygiene programs, policies, and procedures to control exposure to harmful substances and prevent occupational illnesses.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of workplace environments to identify hazards and assess risks related to occupational hygiene.
- Conduct air quality monitoring, noise monitoring and other occupational hygiene assessments as required
- Analyze and interpret results of an assessment to develop plans for improved work conditions
- Report all monitoring results and recommendations to relevant stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of occupational hygiene data and monitoring results.
- Carry out investigations to evaluate adequacy of ventilation, ergonomic, lighting and other conditions required for employee’s safety
- Organize training to educate workers on hygiene requirements necessary for a hazard-free environment
- Ensuring that the workplace complies with applicable laws and industry standards
About you
- A minimum of tertiary qualification in related field
- Competency certificate in Health and Safety will be an added advantage
- At least 5 years’ work experience in a mining environment with Health, Safety and environmental practices
- Knowledgeable in safety and health codes, laws and regulations
- Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel and Power point
- A valid light vehicle license and proficiency in driving
