Role Details
The Engineering department of Tarkwa Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced and outstanding individual to fill a Sectional Engineer – Electrical position.
The incumbent will provide technical support and advice on the formulation and execution of best practices and appropriate technology improvements for electrical installation, maintenance, costs, and mine services outputs.
About the role:
- Maintain a safe and friendly environment to ensure effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Ensure electrical equipment in the section of responsibility is installed and tested in accordance with the Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety, and Technical) Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2182).
- Planning, scheduling, resourcing, and executing electrical maintenance, including statutory maintenance.
- Designing and implementing work schedules for the electrical staff.
- Ensure operational cost control is maintained to set budget targets.
- Conducting statutory tests and inspections of electrical systems and equipment per standards.
- Scheduling and executing electrical construction projects at the Section.
- Ensure continuous improvement of electrical systems, processes and standards to reduce cost.
- Provide Electrical Technical leadership to employees and contractors.
About you:
- Minimum of a diploma in Electrical engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification from a recognised institution.
- A minimum of eight (8) years’ work experience in the mining industry, three (3) of which must have been at a supervisory level.
- Must have a Mincom Sectional Engineer’s certificate of competency and be familiar with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2182).
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels.
- Working knowledge of the Ghana Energy Commission, IEC, NEMA and the SAN, ISO inspection standards.
- Ability to work for long hours under strenuous conditions, with a result-oriented attitude and should be able to work with less or no supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP is required.
- Valid Ghanaian driver’s license and proficiency in driving light vehicles.
