Role Details

Gold Fields Ghana Limited is seeking to employ an experienced individual to fill the position of a Superintendent – Electrical & Instrumentation.

 

Reporting to the Plant Engineer, the successful candidate will use acquired skills and experience to ensure that effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented at the Carbon-in Leach (CIL) plant in compliance with ISO 14001 & 45001 requirements. The incumbent will also be responsible for maintenance, cost control, risk mitigating initiatives, critical parts analysis and inventory.

 

About the role:

  • Active involvement in plant decision making process through reviewing and monitoring process parameters.
  • Ensure high equipment availability, performance and reliability levels of all equipment under jurisdiction are maintained to achieve approved targets.
  • Assist in enforcing instrumentation standards and procedures.
  • Ensure effective maintenance standards, procedures and resources planning are developed and implemented.
  • Ensure operational cost control is maintained to set budget targets.
  • Ensure effective training and development of staff to enhance technical ability.
  • Provide hands-on technical problem solving, fault diagnosing, failure analysis and reporting.
  • Maintain a safe and friendly environment to ensure effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 requirements.
  • Support the integration of maintenance with operations, supply chain, projects and finance department, with the objective of optimizing the work management process.
  • Develop and lead constructive relationship with OEMs of critical process equipment.
  • Resolve technical and instrumentation problems and monitor work in progress to ensure that delays are minimal, and the quality of work is acceptable.

 

 

About you:

  • A tertiary qualification in the field of Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years in field technical experience in an Instrumentation function on process plants.
  • Must have a Mincom Superintendent certificate and be familiar with the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2182).
  • Sound process plant business acumen and the ability to influence the main cost drivers in the environment
  • Strong organizational skills to manage process plant equipment, maintenance and project work.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office/ MS Project and a working knowledge of planned maintenance software packages (SAP PM).
  • Technical problem solving and failure analysis capabilities with special emphasis on field Instrumentations, PLCS, and SCADA systems supported by accredited training course certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be medically fit for the position and environment.
