Role Details:

Gold Fields Ghana is seeking to engage the services of an experienced Tailings Supervisor to provide technical and on-site supervisory support to ensure the site’s tailings facilities are constructed, operated, managed, and maintained according to current recognized industry standards and best practices.  The position will report to the Tailings Facility Engineer (TFE), and work with a team to achieve assigned goals.

About the role:

• Supervise and ensure the implementation of the TSFs’ individual Operation, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) manuals, including dam safety protocols and Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans (ERP).
• Ensure the implementation and compliance of the requirements of the Gold Fields Group TSF Management Standard, Global Industry Standard in Tailings Management (GISTM), Ghanaian regulations and international best practices.
• Collect, document, and review operational and monitoring data on tailings transport and discharge pipeline systems, decant return pump and pipeline systems; and incorporate data into developing a proactive maintenance regime to eliminate unplanned downtimes to milling activities. 
• Collect, collate, document, and review TSF operational monitoring data and implement appropriate timely measures where required, as well as develop an appropriate maintenance regime to safeguard the geotechnical integrity of the TSFs.
• Provide TSF operational supervision to ensure process plant water supply requirements from the TSFs are met, while ensuring TSFs ponds are managed within recommended industry and facility specific pond size limits.
• Coordinate with the process team, plan, and supervise TSF operational maintenance activities, in line with process plant shutdowns to ensure the operational readiness of the TSFs at all times for milling activities.
• Respond to emergency situations and unusual operating conditions to ensure the safety of personnel and limit potential negative impacts on production, environment, and costs
• Responsible for maintaining a high standard of housekeeping in all TSF areas

About you:

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil/Geological/Mining) or related field
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in planning, operations, monitoring, and performance analysis of tailings and water management facilities
• Knowledgeable in relevant regulations, guidelines, and other international dam safety standards, preferably on mining dams and tailings management
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
• Exceptional leadership capability and demonstrated ability to coach and develop others
• Have a hands-on approach and be willing to commit to obtain the required results
• Valid Ghanaian driver’s license
