Role Details

Gold Fields is currently seeking a Lead Specialist Group Reporting to join the External Affairs team. Reporting to the Senior Manager External Communications, this role is responsible for ensuring the establishment and maintenance of strong, consistent, and reliable relationships with Gold Fields’ key stakeholders. The successful person will be responsible for ensuring the establishment and maintenance of strong, consistent, and reliable relationships with Gold Fields’ key stakeholders. This role is central to shaping the organisation’s public image and ensuring that all external communications, particularly the suite of reports under the Integrated Annual Report, and other critical external disclosures, align with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and the company’s strategic objectives.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the preparation and publication of all external reports, the Integrated Annual Report, Report to Stakeholders, Climate Change Report, Governance Report, sustainability reports, and operational reports, including other relevant stakeholder disclosures.
  • Ensuring that all reports are accurate, compliant with regulatory requirements as well as leading local and international reporting standards and frameworks.
  • Effectively communicating the company’s performance, strategies, developments, risks, and opportunities, primarily via its suite of reports.
  • Ensuring that all reports are aligned with the company’s policies, strategies and reflect the latest communication priorities and best practices in the resources sector.
  • Ensuring that all external reporting adheres to relevant regulations, leading industry standards and frameworks, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Providing guidance and support to communication and investor relations teams to ensuring alignment with latest reporting standards, trends, and developments.
  • Driving innovation in reporting and communication practices, adopting new technologies, channels, and formats to enhance communication, and reporting to Group external stakeholders including benchmarking against industry best practices.
  • Establishing and monitoring of key performance indicators for the quality and quantity of external reporting.
  • Providing regular feedback to senior leadership on reporting outcomes and stakeholder feedback, including engagements with the Board on reports and standards.

Key factors to your success include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, English or a related field.
  • A proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity
  • Minimum of 8 - 10 years’ experience in corporate communications, public relations, or external reporting with a focus on the mining or extractive industries.
  • Exceptional English writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a keen eye for attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven experience managing complex, multi-country communication initiatives in a highly regulated environment.
  • Experience in project management, capable of managing multiple deadlines and stakeholders across the globe.

 

  • Highly proficient in digital communication platforms and modern reporting tools.
  • Experience in collaborating with other functions to integrate reporting and communicating business needs and stakeholders.
