Role Details

Gold Fields is currently seeking a Lead Specialist Social Performance to join the Sustainability team. Reporting to the Vice President Social Performance, this role provides senior technical leadership and advisory support across social performance, human rights, social risk management, reporting, and social investment initiatives. The incumbent will be expected to lead global Social Performance and Human Rights initiatives across operations to strengthen sustainable mining practices.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Support implementation of the Group social performance and human rights standard.
  • Provide technical advisory support to operations and projects.
  • Drive consistency in social risk, incident, and grievance management.
  • Support social investment and shared value initiatives.
  • Coordinate performance reporting, dashboards, governance materials, and assurance activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across systems, processes, and capability development.
  • Role model Gold Fields’ values and create a culture where every team member feels seen, supported, and valued.

Key factors to your success include:

 

  • Post Graduate Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences (human rights, geography, anthropology, sociology, economics, development, etc.) or related sustainability field.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in social performance, human rights, community relations in mining or complex operating environments.
  • Strong understanding of social risk and impact management, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to influence, collaborate, and manage multiple priorities across functions and geographies.
  • Proficiency in English and either Spanish or French will be advantageous to your application.
