Role Details

The Gold Fields Protection Security Officer’s role supports the Asset Protection Superintendent within the Gold Fields corporate office in ensuring the safety and protection of employees, contractors, visitors, information and company assets from harm, theft or damage, while maintaining a safe and secure environment.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise outsourced security personnel (Bidvest Protea Coin) to ensure consistent service delivery and adherence to site security standards
  • Monitor and maintain the effective operation of access control, CCTV, alarm systems, and ensure all equipment is inspected and serviced monthly
  • Oversee daily CCTV monitoring and conduct regular reviews to identify and address potential risks or irregularities
  • Implement and enforce access control procedures for employees, business partners, and visitors, ensuring compliance with approved security policies
  • Identify, investigate, and report security breaches, irregular activities, or suspicious behaviour within the premises
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company security procedures, and legal requirements
  • Escort and monitor all workmen and contractors inside the building to ensure controlled access to restricted areas
  • Provide support and assistance to employees, business partners, and visitors, maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach
  • Monitor all access points to maintain a secure corporate environment and prevent unauthorized entry
  • Manage the issuing and activation of access cards for employees, visitors, and approved business partners through the X-Time system
  • Ensure that all offices and the building are fully secured before end of shift or upon leaving the premises
  • Participate actively in fire drills, emergency response procedures, and crisis management activities
  • Contribute to the organisation’s Health & Safety structures and support compliance initiatives

 

Key factors to your success include:

  • Grade 12/NQF Level 4 qualification and be fully registered with PSIRA at the required level
  • Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisory security role, preferably within a corporate office environment
  • Be proficient in operating and overseeing CCTV, access control systems, alarms, and incident reporting tools
  • Demonstrate strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Communicate professionally and work effectively with employees, business partners, visitors, and outsourced security teams
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre
