Role Details
Gold Fields is currently seeking a Lead Specialist – media, social media & digital responsible for leading Gold Fields’ global media relations and digital communication strategy to enhance reputation, build stakeholder trust, and strengthen transparency. The role integrates proactive media engagement with management of corporate social and digital media channels, ensuring consistent, accurate, and impactful communication across all platforms.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build and manage strong relationships with global and local journalists, ensuring proactive and positive media coverage. Prepare press releases, statements, and other media materials to position Gold Fields as an industry leader.
- Lead Gold Fields’ global social and digital media strategy across LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Instagram, and other platforms. Grow engagement while safeguarding governance, compliance, and brand integrity.
- Develop compelling multimedia content (copy, graphics, video, infographics) to effectively communicate with diverse audiences, including investors, governments, employees, and communities.
- Support issues and crisis response by ensuring fast, accurate, and transparent communication across media and digital channels.
- Define KPIs, monitor campaign performance, and provide actionable insights and reporting to senior leadership.
- Uphold disclosure and compliance standards, align messaging across Investor Relations, Legal, Sustainability, and regional teams, and provide training to internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with business units, corporate functions, and external agencies to deliver integrated communication campaigns that strengthen Gold Fields’ reputation and stakeholder trust.
Key factors to your success include:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, or related field
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in media relations and social/digital media management, preferably within a multinational or highly regulated industry
- Established journalist networks and a successful track record managing global media campaigns
- Proficiency in managing corporate accounts across LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Instagram, and other platforms
- Demonstrated experience handling issues and crisis communications in high-pressure environments
- Strong copywriting, storytelling, and multimedia content creation skills
