POSITION: Assistant Supervisor Radiography
JOB GRADING: C – Lower
DEPARTMENT: Health and Environment – Health Services
SITE: South Deep Gold Mine
The Assistant Supervisor Radiography is accountable for supporting the effective delivery of occupational health radiography services at the mine. The position is responsible for overseeing daily radiography operations, ensuring high-quality diagnostic imaging, and maintaining compliance with professional, legal, and Mine Health and Safety standards
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Radiography
- Minimum 3 years’ radiography experience
- Registered with the HPCSA
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

- Proven safety leadership capability with established safety campaign delivery record

- Effective communicator with sound spoken and written English communication skills
- Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act
- Computer literate
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote a culture of authentic safety leadership by participating in operational Safety, Health, Environment and Risk management campaigns, audits, incident management and investigations
- Ensure consistent application of radiation safety, quality control, and infection prevention protocols
- Monitor relevant legislative changes and develop recommended approaches to ensure compliance within the area of accountability
- Championing the company’s strategies and initiatives to promote a respectful, diverse, and inclusive workplace culture, while driving the company's strategic people initiatives.
- Lead and assist with daily radiography operations to ensure efficient service delivery, clinical excellence and compliance with professional, legal and mine health standards
- Monitor equipment performance, authorise corrective actions and support preventative maintenance programmes
- Support audits, inspections and quality assurance initiatives, ensuring readiness and compliance at all times
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying service gaps and recommending operational enhancements
- Maintain accurate clinical and operational records to support occupational health decision-making
- Enforce adherence to policies, procedures, and ethical standards within the radiography function
