POSITION:                 Mobilift Operator

JOB GRADING:         B1

DEPARTMENT:          Engineering Infrastructure

SITE:                          South Deep Gold Mine

The Mobilift Operator is responsible for the safe operation of the mobilift mobile lifting machine, ensuring it is effectively utilized for lifting and rigging activities within the immediate surface shaft environment, workshops, stores and salvage area

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Driver’s licence
• Mobilift operator certificate and licence or similar lifting machine
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Mobilift Operator in a mining environment, project, or construction environment, with a proven track record in the safe operation and maintenance of a Mobilift, including the proper use and care of associated lifting equipment used in conjunction with the Mobilift
• Be declared medical fit for the position and environment, as determined by risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure health and safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures
• Application of pre-use inspection on equipment by means of a checklist and report deficiencies to supervisor.
• Performs basic maintenance on equipment e.g., wash and greasing and the inspection of all critical safety devices and components, conduct pre-use inspection prior using of the equipment and conduct a pre-work risk assessment as part of the zero-harm policy.
• Ensure full understanding of operational operating tasks assigned for the day or on ad hoc basis
• Ensure all safety devices is up to standard and any sub-standard condition observed is reported to Supervisor immediately
