POSITION: Processor Metallurgy
JOB GRADING: C-Lower
DEPARTMENT: Metallurgical Plant
SITE: South Deep Gold Mine
The Processor Metallurgy is accountable for supervising the effective monitoring and operation of Plant units such as mills, screens, pumps, cyclones, tanks, etc to ensure unit performance is in accordance with set Plant parameters and mining operational standards
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years Backfill/Metallurgical operations experience
- Computer Literate (Office packages, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Be in possession of a code 08 (EB) drivers licence
- Knowledge of International Cyanide Management Institute implementation
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre

- Proven personal safety record and demonstrated capability to maintain a safe working environment for teams
- Proficient in English oral and written communication skills
- Display a high level of attention to detail and ensures accuracy in work
- Able to handle conflict, work under pressure and manage time effectively
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in and lead operational safety meetings and safety campaigns
- Oversee the application of good housekeeping standards, spillage management, etc. and initiating remedial actions as required
- Monitor and conduct routine inspections on assigned operational units inclusive of mills, screens, pumps, cyclones, tanks, etc. and ensuring units are performing according to set parameters
- Identify under-performing or faulty units and takes necessary actions to remedy and/or generates job cards for submission to Foreman for further intervention
- Oversee and monitor the effectiveness of sampling activities by Operators ensuring that results are submitted to the laboratory for analysis
- Prepare for and conduct planned task observations to ensure safe handover of units for maintenance activities
- Supervise the effective availability and utilization of equipment and materials to ensure achievement of daily production activities and targets
- Complete daily log sheets ensuring accurate activity reporting on times, concentrations, densities, tank levels, flow rates, pressures and temperatures of the various units
