POSITION: Senior Specialist Security Operations
JOB GRADING: D-Lower
DEPARTMENT: Protection Services
SITE: South Deep Gold Mine
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
- Tertiary qualified with a degree in security management or law enforcement and/or Degree or certification related to Finance/Risk Management/Law or Forensic Investigations
- At least 5 years’ experience as a senior investigator within the mining environment with a minimum of 2 years related supervisory experience
- Experience in conducting and concluding discreet investigations
- Be registered with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA)
- Valid driver’s licence
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment
Key Competencies:
- Advanced operational safety leadership experience with demonstrated safety delivery record
- Accomplished frontline team and people leader with advanced inter and intra-team collaboration
- Advanced verbal and written English communication skills
- Independent, proactive thinker with the ability to schedule and deliver assignments within tight deadlines
- Proven track record in the investigation of identified and emerging matters including white collar crime, precious metals, non-ferrous metals and property related cases
- Demonstrated working knowledge of South African Police Services and judicial services processes
- Proficiency in case management, data analysis and analytical and reporting software
- Proficient in general and technology enabled surveillance operations
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the Health and Safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in the planning and execution of operational activities
- Contribute to the culture of Zero Harm by participating in and contributing to operational safety campaigns, applying relevant legislative, operational and safe work standards and regulations and, instituting and monitoring appropriate remedial actions
- Maintain effective people management practices by ensuring that team roles and competencies are clearly defined, and that effective team delivery is maintained through resourcing, managing workload, assigning tasks and reviewing/ recognising outputs of team members
- Actively support the company’s strategies and initiatives to promote a respectful, diverse and inclusive workplace culture
- Develop, recommend and implement policies and procedures to enhance investigations, proactive crime analysis, surveillance, operational delivery, etc.
- Manage the collection, collation, analysis and reporting of crime and security information, investigations and special projects
- Refine and maintain operational administrative and governance process
- Maintain full case management life-cycle principles covering the full spectrum from initiation, investigation, prosecution, etc. and recommended remedial actions to effectively close out cases
- Remain abreast of developments within the industry relating to specialised investigative technology/techniques, analysis, etc. and develop proposals for adoption at South Deep
- Continuously monitor operating standards and delivery ensuring operational alignment to regulations, policies, etc. and initiate remediation measures or escalations as appropriate Maintain effective internal and external stakeholder management standards ensuring engagements aligned to the organisational culture, values and commercial principles
