The Supervisor Employee Relations is responsible for maintaining a constructive employee relations (ER) environment while ensuring compliance with operational policies, procedures and employment legislation. As a trusted advisor, the incumbent assists and guides line leadership, employees and HR team members on the application of ER practice, case preparation and facilitates training to raise the overall standard of ER management at the mine. A core focus of the role is to drive the Ethical Contracting compliance and ensuring optimal ER practice within the business partner environment
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Be in possession of an appropriate formal Legal or HR qualification specializing in IR/ER
- Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Labour Relations/ER, preferably within the mining and construction industry
- Knowledge of human resources functions and practices
- Demonstrated track record of post qualification experience in compiling and preparing case documentation for litigation
- Exposure to the CCMA processes and a successful track record of CCMA cases
- Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promote a culture of authentic safety leadership by participating in and leading operational Safety, Health, Environment and Risk management campaigns, audits, incident management and investigations
- Monitor relevant legislative changes impacting the employee relations environment and develop recommended approaches to ensure compliance within area of accountability
- Championing the company’s strategies and initiatives to promote a respectful, diverse, and inclusive workplace culture, while driving the company's strategic people initiatives.
- Monitor core HR/ER metrics such as relevant performance indicators, absenteeism, grievances, disciplinary matters, employee wellness, respectful workplace (harmful behaviour) and recommend appropriate remediation actions
- Provide professional advice, guidance, and coaching to HR and Line Managers on employee relations related issues & processes
- Refine and monitor the Business Partner ethical contracting standards as adapted from time to time
- Translate and execute ER related policies and procedures to maintain sound ER practice at the mine
- Act as trusted advisor in preparing and facilitating grievances and misconduct hearings / investigations
- Prepare and collate company case material on potential disputes and represent the company at CCMA cases
- Build constructive relationships between employees, Business Partners, organized labour and the Company
