POSITION: Supervisor Finanacial Reporting
JOB GRADING: C Upper
DEPARTMENT: Commercial Services
SITE: South Deep Gold Mine
The Supervisor Financial Reporting is responsible for compiling and maintaining records for all financial transactions around Financial Reporting including processing of journals, preparing SLP & Regulatory reports, VAT returns and handling of queries.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting
- Have at least 5 years’ financial accounting experience within a mining or financial environment
- Have good knowledge and understanding of Financial Management
- Intermediate knowledge of SAP
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office suite
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

- Sound interpersonal relations, collaboration and good communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and transacting on various databases
- Proven diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Strong decision-making skills
- Ability to handle conflict, cope with pressure and manage deadlines effectively
- Sound understanding and application of financial management principles
- Proven track record working on SAP FI or similar Financial ERP system
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures
- Prepare month end journals, provisions, accruals, and financial reporting reports
- Process payment of financial invoices in accordance with policies and procedures
- Prepare a reconciliation of accounts and resolve queries timeously
- Compile monthly Performance Management, Tax schedules, monthly vat returns, etc.
- Prepare & submit all relevant statutory/regulatory reports, returns and ad-hoc reporting according to the agreed business processes and policies
- Maintain cordial relationship with all suppliers & internal stakeholders
- Assist with regular internal and SOX audits by providing and sourcing relevant financial information and documentation, respond to queries and take corrective action
- Ensure all financial reporting aspects relating to entities by ensuring alignment with financial reporting policies, implementing effective reporting systems, ensuring full compliance, and performing regular audits, taking corrective action when necessary
