The Boilermaker is responsible to perform maintenance, repairs, strip and assemble of Trackless Machines, construction, and fabrication of all steel structural work on underground, in accordance with operating and safety standards and procedures to ensure the availability of engineering equipment. The core accountability of the role is to maintain the highest possible standards in the area of operation and influence.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Recognised Trade Test
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Boilermaker in maintenance, construction and rebuild of trackless machinery
- Proven experience in repair, rebuild, machine fabrication of parts and construction work underground
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

- Proven track record in safety leadership
- Proven interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills
- Independent, proactive thinker and ability to schedule and deliver work within tight deadlines
- Have accomplished training to interpret and execute tasks from Engineering drawings
- Advanced knowledge of specialised tools
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure health and safety of self and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of maintenance activities.
- Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health and Safety Act regulations, and Company standards.
- Contribute to a culture of zero harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation, health, safety, environmental, security policies and procedures, and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion.
- Promotes and develops team work to become an effective team leader.
- Repair, rebuild, machine fabrication of parts and all construction work underground as required within area of responsibility
- Ensure regular maintenance on equipment, parts and section construction work.
- Perform standby duties as required
