Trackles Supervisor Engineering Electrician

JOB GRADING:

The role of the Fixed Plant Supervisor is to effectively manage an electrical team of Fixed Plant Artisans, to ensure health and safety standards are adhered to and that the electrical infrastructure, including but not limited to Medium Voltage electrical reticulation, substations, gulley boxes and impact breakers are maintained to the highest standards to increase availability and reliability.  The Fixed Plant Electrical Supervisor also ensures that all Electrical Forward moves are planned, scheduled, and executed timeously and safely. Collaboration with other departments is crucial to ensure effective execution of ad-hoc electrical requests.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Electrical Trade Certificate
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a mechanized mining environment as an Artisan and 2 years in a Supervisory capacity
  • Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

  • Computer literacy with basic MS Office and SAP proficiency
  • Medium Voltage knowledge and experience

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure Health and Safety of section and team members by applying relevant standards and procedures in all planning and execution of maintenance activities
  • Perform inspections in accordance with the MHSA regulations and company standards
  • Contribute to the culture of Zero Harm by adhering to all requirements as laid down by legislation health safety environmental security policies and procedures and by the application of specific instructions to own work area and task completion
  • Lead and supervise team to ensure optimal safe working practice, focussed preventative maintenance and breakdown management and, special tasks/projects as assigned
  • Manage all team performance, development, and coaching to ensure optimal delivery
  • Carry out Planned Task Observations (PTOs) to verify capability of team members and initiate remediation measures to improve individual capability which includes on-the-job coaching
  • Lead and participate in failure investigations on installations, equipment, components, etc. to implement and/or recommend changes in maintenance and operating practice and, engage with OEM, suppliers and intermediaries as required to assist with investigations and the formulation of remediation interventions, etc.
  • Responsible for implementation of the asset management strategy and tactical interventions in respect of all related installations, equipment, etc. in area of responsibility
  • Engage and participate in mechanised development process optimisation interventions to ensure continuous alignment to prescribed best practice standards
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all On-reef Electrical Infrastructure and to maintain standards and conditions within the TM3 section
  • Responsible for the safe and proper installation of electrical equipment
  • Participate in and formulate annual section budgets, manage budget, spares inventory, including the placing and follow-up of orders
