The UV Operator is part of a team engaged in the safe execution of suspending and installing pipes and cables, to supply services to the mining sections, as a primary function. The UV Operator is also responsible for the safe and effective transportation of material and equipment from stores and offloading bays to the working areas, thus facilitating the logistics function within the section. Safety is at the core of everything that the UV Operator does.
Minimum Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Relevant Utility Vehicle Certification and License
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a production and engineering environment
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance to operational Safety, Health and Environmental standards and participates in daily and scheduled safety briefing, engagements, and campaigns
- Working to standards as assigned and actively promotes team effectiveness within the section
- Performs any other activities necessary for the effective completion of his/her work
- Conducts pre-use inspection on assigned equipment by means of a checklist and report deficiencies to the supervisor
- Performs basic maintenance on equipment e.g., top up engine oil, water and hydraulic oil, check for oil leaks and clean equipment according to standards and procedures
- Ensuring that all relevant daily targets are met continuously
- Ensuring effective utilization of equipment
