The Opportunity:

You’ll work closely with a diverse team to embed effective risk management practices, support safe work execution, and ensure incidents lead to meaningful learning and sustainable improvements for our Health, Safety & Training department at Agnew Gold Mine.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the implementation and maturity of critical risk management practices, including verification of control effectiveness in the field
  • Coach supervisors and frontline leaders in risk identification, control application, and decision making under uncertainty
  • Lead and support ICAM (or equivalent) investigations, ensuring strong causal analysis and clear, actionable outcomes
  • Drive improvement in the quality of safety interactions, verifications, and assurance activities (moving beyond “tick and flick”)
  • Use systems (e.g. INX) and site data to identify trends and translate insights into practical risk reduction actions
  • Contribute to maintaining alignment with legislative requirements and Gold Fields standards, while focusing on what is effective in practice
  • Role model our core values and create a culture where every team member feels seen, supported, and valued.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in a safety role within mining or heavy industry
  • Current manual driver’s licence
  • Strong understanding of risk management and critical controls, not just compliance systems
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and coach leaders in operational environments
  • Experience in incident investigation methodologies (ICAM preferred)
  • A practical, field-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge and improve how work is done
  • Relevant qualification in Work Health & Safety (Cert IV or higher)
