The Opportunity

 

As a Jumbo Operator, you’ll play a critical role at the frontline of underground development by delivering safe, accurate, and efficient drilling to support production targets.

 

Reporting to the Underground Shift Supervisor, you’ll work across active headings, execute drill plans and ensure quality outcomes that support mine performance. You’ll operate modern twin-boom jumbo rigs, manage your work area, and maintain clear communication with supervisors, engineers, and operational crews.

 

This role offers a good balance of autonomy and teamwork, where you’ll be trusted to take ownership of your heading while contributing to a strong safety culture and high-performing crew.

Skills & Qualifications:

 

  • Proven underground mining experience operating jumbo drill rigs (Sandvik)
  • Strong knowledge of charging, firing, bogging and trucking of development headings
  • Solid understanding of underground hard-rock mining techniques, development mining practices and ground support systems
  • Strong knowledge of ground support, using Resin, MDX, split-set bolts. Experience with using Geobrugg Minax mesh exceptional
  • Ability to read and interpret drill plans and mine designs
  • A proactive attitude with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement
  • Able to work independently and effectively in a team in a physically demanding underground environment
  • Valid manual C Class Driver’s Licence
  • WA Dangerous Goods Security Card and Working at Heights

 

About the Role:

 

  • Operating twin-boom jumbo drills for underground development
  • Ensuring accurate drilling to design and ground support requirements
  • Providing support and guidance to underground operations such as Charge-up Crews, Bogger Operators and Long Hole Operators, and Service Crews
  • Communicating effectively with engineers, geologists, supervisors, and the survey team to ensure drilling to plan
  • Conducting thorough pre-starts, basic maintenance, and maintaining high housekeeping standards in headings and work areas
