Following an internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced and influential leader to join the Granny Smith team as Superintendent: Occupational Health and Safety. This key leadership role will drive the continued evolution of our safety culture, risk management practices and health and safety performance across the operation.
- Permanent FIFO role on a rotating 4/3, 8/6, 8/6 roster
- Two-tiered performance bonus & LTIP + private health allowance
- Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety or similar with relevant experience required

Reporting to the Manager: OHS&T you will undertake the following core responsibilities.
WHS Governance
Lead the development, implementation and continual improvement of the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Management System, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, company standards and industry best practice, while fostering a culture of accountability and operational excellence
Risk Management & Compliance
Provide strategic leadership and oversight of health, safety and emergency management risks, ensuring robust governance, risk management and assurance frameworks are implemented and continuously improved to support workforce safety, operational resilience and sustainable business performance.
Systems, Assurance & Continuous Improvement
Drive the evolution of OHS management systems, reporting frameworks and performance analytics to enhance compliance, identify emerging trends and opportunities, and deliver measurable continuous improvement outcomes across the operation.
Business Partner Governance & Performance
Lead the governance and assurance of contractor management and assurance frameworks, ensuring contractors meet Gold Fields health, safety, emergency management and compliance requirements, while driving safe, effective and sustainable contractor performance.
Incident Management & Organisational Learning
Champion incident investigation and learning processes, ensuring incidents are thoroughly analysed, corrective actions are sustainably implemented and opportunities for continuous improvement are realised.
Emergency Preparedness & Response
Guide the development and continuous improvement of emergency management programs and capabilities across the operation, supporting the Emergency Services Coordinator in maintaining emergency preparedness, response readiness, medical capability and assurance processes that enhance operational resilience, compliance and workforce safety.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
Partner with operational leaders, employees, contractors and external stakeholders to influence and drive HSE performance, providing trusted advice, coaching and support while championing Gold Fields' commitment to a culture of safety, care and accountability.
What You’ll Bring
- Tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety or related field
- Manual Driver's Licence
- Extensive experience in OHS leadership roles within mining, industrial, or heavy industry environments ideally with exposure to underground environments
- Statutory 26 certification desirable
- ICAM Lead Investigator and Lead Auditor Qualification (highly desirable)
- Strong people skills, with ability to influence, build relationships, and inspire teams
