We’re looking for motivated people who are ready to learn, develop and build a career in the mining industry to join our team as a Trainee Paste Fill Operator.

 

This position is offered on a 12 month fixed-term contract, working an 8 days on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off roster.

 

This opportunity is open to applicants residing in Kalgoorlie, Kambalda and surrounding areas.

What You’ll Be Doing

Throughout your traineeship, you’ll gain exposure to:

  • Assisting with the installation and maintenance of paste walls and paste reticulation systems
  • Supporting the installation and operation of relevant instrumentation, compressed air and ventilation infrastructure
  • Assisting with water and dewatering pipe systems and ensuring infrastructure is installed safely, on time and to specification
  • Safely operating machines and equipment required to undertake assigned paste fill tasks
  • Completing pre-starts, workplace inspections and operational documentation accurately
  • Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping across the paste plant, vehicle cabins, crib rooms, workshops and work areas
  • Communicating regularly with the Paste Fill Coordinator and Mine Management regarding issues that may impact safe and efficient production
  • Participating in toolbox talks, safety discussions and initiatives that support our strong safety culture
  • Working as part of a team to complete tasks safely, efficiently and to the required standard
  • Following instructions from the Supervisor and being organised and prepared to undertake all assigned tasks

 

This is a hands-on role that involves working outdoors and in varying conditions. The role will involve manual tasks, physical activity and working around operating equipment and infrastructure. A good level of physical fitness and a commitment to working safely are essential.
