The Opportunity:

In this role, you will lead and oversee safe, compliant, and efficient blasting activities as part of our Surface Mining, Drill & Blast team at our owner-operated St Ives Gold Mine. Reporting to the Drill and Blast Supervisor, as a Senior Shotfirer, you will provide technical expertise and on-the-ground leadership to support production outcomes and a strong safety culture.

 

Up to six months’ free, company-provided accommodation may be available for eligible candidates from under-represented groups (for example, women in mining and Indigenous Australians) relocating to Kambalda for permanent roles. Accommodation includes basic furnishings and utilities and is subject to availability and housing policy, with support available to assist with transitioning to a lease after the initial six-month period. Eligibility and final terms will be discussed during the recruitment process.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • WA Shotfirer’s Ticket and Dangerous Goods Security Card – essential
  • Current S26 Certification is essential
  • Current manual driver’s licence. HR license is preferred
  • Experience in surface mining blasting operations, including demonstrated leadership or senior responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise blasting activities, ensuring compliance with legislation and site procedures
  • Oversee explosives handling, storage, security, and QA audits
  • Drive safety performance through risk management, pre-starts, and continuous improvement
