The Opportunity:
Join us at Agnew Gold Mine, where safety is at the heart of everything we do.
At Agnew, we are focused on strengthening how risk is understood, managed, and controlled in the field. We are looking for someone who can move beyond compliance and play a hands-on role in improving how work is planned, supervised, and executed safely.
You will work closely with frontline leaders to embed risk-based decision making, improve the quality of critical control verification, and ensure that incidents lead to meaningful learning and action.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to build capability in others, challenge the status quo, and have a direct impact on how safety is delivered day-to-day.
Why You’ll Love Working for Us
- Family-friendly site roster to support work-life balance
- 6% site allowance & private health allowance
- Quarterly bonus scheme recognising contributions
- Virgin Velocity reward points & salary sacrifice options
- Employee Assistance Program & educational assistance
- Long service leave pro rata after 5 years
What You’ll Do
- Support the implementation and maturity of critical risk management practices, including verification of control effectiveness in the field
- Coach supervisors and frontline leaders in risk identification, control application, and decision making under uncertainty
- Lead and support ICAM (or equivalent) investigations, ensuring strong causal analysis and clear, actionable outcomes
- Drive improvement in the quality of safety interactions, verifications, and assurance activities (moving beyond “tick and flick”)
- Use systems (e.g. INX) and site data to identify trends and translate insights into practical risk reduction actions
- Contribute to maintaining alignment with legislative requirements and Gold Fields standards, while focusing on what is effective in practice
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in a safety role within mining or heavy industry
- Strong understanding of risk management and critical controls, not just compliance systems
- Demonstrated ability to influence and coach leaders in operational environments
- Experience in incident investigation methodologies (ICAM preferred)
- A practical, field-focused mindset with the confidence to challenge and improve how work is done
- Relevant qualification in Work Health & Safety (Cert IV or higher)
