An exciting opportunity has arisen for a values-driven, dynamic leader with a passion for driving operational excellence our Agnew Gold Mine.

 

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be a part of a dynamic and engaged Senior Leadership Team and be responsible for the delivery to plan from the mining operations to ensure a constant stream of ore to the processing plant, including both quantity and quality. You will use your leadership skills to lead all mine operational functions, including production, maintenance, and have responsibility for the management of mining contractors.

 

With a diverse team of Senior Leaders reporting to you, you will continue to foster a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement, whilst overseeing all aspects of gold mining operations, including production, safety, environmental compliance, and team management.

 

This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis, 3 x 4 days on 3 days off, 1 x 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

 

The successful candidate will have significant experience in underground operational management and an enthusiastic and authentic leadership style, looking to commit to a long-term project. The key to your success in this role will be your exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills. 

 

In this role, you will:

  • Provide clarity, guidance, and consistency to the underground operation by setting clear and achievable objectives within the specific budget parameters that meet the strategic and business plans for the mine.
  • Manage all operational, technical, people and commercial aspects of the underground operations by monitoring and addressing compliance against planned goals and objectives.
  • Control underground operation activities by approving plans, reviewing, and reporting against benchmarks and actively aligning plans when required.
  • Review proposed mining methods, equipment purchases, equipment usage, and allocation to continuously improve the outputs from the mine.
  • Oversee cost, production, and energy effectiveness of the mine by advocating for and sponsoring business improvement and technology projects.

Ideally, you shall possess a Degree in Engineering (Mining) as well as a WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (or the prerequisite to obtain one.  Contract management experience working collaboratively with mining contractors is an advantage in this role.
