In this Agnew or St Ives-based role, you shall facilitate the optimal extraction of gold ore from mining operations through the provision of comprehensive underground mine planning, design, evaluation, and scheduling that achieves the requirements of the business in alignment with EHS standards.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist the Unit Manager: Technical Services to set strategic directions and short-to-mid-term production targets
  • Ensure the business can make informed decisions by identifying, planning, and communicating extraction strategies, critical path, and high-risk areas as part of an iterative scenario planning process
  • Create, support, and manage underground short to medium term mine design, scheduling and evaluation work, including design of all aspects of an underground mine including ventilation, backfill, and other infrastructure
  • Assist in the preparation of budget plans and schedules
  • Produce accurate and timely, quarterly and monthly schedules aligned to the Business Plan and LoM Strategy
  • Manage, support, and help grow planning team members for future success
  • Continually challenge and optimise systems, processes, and practices to identify improvement areas
  • Coach and collaborate with your team and other operational departments to ensure the planning process delivers on operational requirements

 

Who Are We Looking For?

  • An autonomous, driven, and safety-conscious individual who is willing to share knowledge with others
  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, additional possession of a First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing/leading a team
  • Extensive underground mining experience with excellent knowledge in the fields of production, ventilation, projects, paste fill, planning and scheduling.
  • High level of skills displayed in  Desik CAD, Deswik SO and Deswik IS.
  • Ability to share and grow within the team at Gold Fields
