An exciting opportunity has arisen at our Granny Smith Gold Mine for a values-driven, dynamic leader with a passion for driving operational excellence.


How You’ll Make an Impact

Collaborating with the Manager: Mining, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all facets of the underground operations to meet all safety, production, and cost targets, whilst ensuring that all mining and planning activities support and are driven by the short, medium and long term needs of the mine and fully aligned with the strategic goals and objectives of the business unit and Gold Fields.

This role is offered on an 8 day on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Ensure all statutory requirements are met per the WA Work Health and Safety Act & Regulations.
  • Coordinate and deliver the safe production and development activities of the mine, taking into consideration the long-term requirements of the mine as well as responding to the daily requirements, to achieve the budget.
  • Monitor development, stoping and mining projects' progress against monthly and quarterly targets.
  • Ensure all reporting and actions in relation to safety and environmental incidents are completed within appropriate deadlines.
  • Provide input into mine planning, projects, ventilation, survey and geotechnical requirements of the mine to ensure safe production.
  • Oversee mine schedules of all mining activities to create accurate forecasts and budgets to achieve the mine budget.
  • Develop continuous improvement targets and drive and measure the achievement of these targets.
  • Ensure that the development schedule is matched to the production requirements.

What You Bring?

We are seeking an experienced senior leader, as well as for you to hold a WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency in WA. Your background includes an underground mining environment with experience in large-scale mechanised, owner-operator long-hole stoping, and room & pillar mining, as well as a strong capability in contractor management and business partner engagement.

A Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) will complement your practical experience, and you will have a proven record of leading high-performing teams, driving safety, and consistently delivering operational excellence.
