How You’ll Make an Impact

Reporting to the Unit Manager: Technical Services, you will be responsible for the leadership of the Mine Planning Engineering Departments, playing a crucial role in overseeing and optimising mine planning activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of gold resources. You will contribute to organisational success by delivering optimised mining forecasts for underground operations through pragmatic, effective, and collaborative mine planning. These range from the short-term (implementation) through to medium-term (3 years) requirements (including annual budget forecasts) aligned to the life of mine & strategic direction of the business.

Your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve planning systems, ensuring that all are documented, controlled, and auditable across the business.
  • Work with technical and operational teams to optimise mining performance
  • Collaboratively review and update mine plans to leverage off ongoing exploration, performance, and operational feedback, aligning operations to annual business objectives and LOM strategy.
  • Ensure the most effective production profile through the preparation of robust mine schedules by assessing and managing operational and technical risk
  • Contribute to the most efficient utilisation of resources by ensuring that projects are ranked and evaluated in an appropriate manner that is aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Foster a culture of business and continuous improvement by regularly identifying and pursuing opportunities
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and development opportunities to team members.

 

 What will you bring?

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) will complement your extensively demonstrated underground practical experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of developing operationally ready mine designs and schedules, managing engineering workflows, and technical study work.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, as well as demonstrated ability to support a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated experience in Deswik.CAD, Deswik.Sched, Ventsim, and Microsoft Office
