Join our Yamarna exploration team at Gruyere and play a pivotal role in driving new discovery across one of Australia’s and Gold Fields most exciting new gold provinces. Reporting to the Exploration Superintendent, you will lead a team of project and exploration geologists in strategic planning, design and execution of a re-vamped exploration strategy, aligning systems and processes to Gold Fields standard.  This is a pivotal role in owning and growing exploration for the Yamarna belt at Gruyere following a significant investment by the business, and an opportunity to make your mark.

 

This role is offered on 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Your role

  • Coordinate exploration teams and contractors to deliver planned Yamarna exploration programs.
  • Liaise with functional teams and site teams to ensure works are completed with respect and acknowledgment of Yilka people.
  • Manage schedules, forecasts and budgets to ensure programs run efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide accurate and predictive geological models that support drilling programs, decision-making and safety outcomes.
  • Contribute to short, medium and long-term exploration strategies to extend Life of Mine and grow resources and reserves within the Gruyere/Yamarna region.
  • Support the development and adherence to systems for geological mapping, reporting, data acquisition, storage and retrieval, and align existing materials with Gold Fields standards.
  • Maintain data integrity and consistently exceed reporting standards with high-quality interpretations and models.
  • Ensure exploration activities comply with site policies and procedures.
  • Promote a high standard of safety-focused exploration.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and performance feedback to build a capable, engaged and professional geological team.

 

About You

  • Proven leadership capability with experience motivating high-performing geology teams
  • Excellent understanding of Gold Fields systems and ranking processes
  • Motivated and excited individual who is eager to deliver results in line with Gold Fields values
  • Bachelor of Science in Geology
  • Project and contractor management experience
  • Broad mining industry background (gold preferred), including exposure to mine geology, resource/grade control estimation and exploration
  • Strong understanding of drilling techniques, program management and QAQC
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and 3D geological modelling software (e.g. Leapfrog)
