Lead Specialist Mining Studies

We have an opportunity for a Lead Specialist Mining Studies to join our Corporate Technical team in a dynamic, international environment. This position was created through our recent operating model update to build on the global nature and impact of our business.

Role Details:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Mining Studies, this role will be pivotal in developing and evaluating technically viable and sustainable solutions for various strategic projects within the Group, including site-based strategic projects. This role encompasses managing operational and site-based initiatives, focusing on early-stage scoping and concept studies that align with our strategic and business planning objectives, ESG targets, and future project progression stages—including prefeasibility and feasibility studies.

This role is offered on a permanent full-time basis and will require global site travel to support our global projects and operations.

About the role:

• Conduct prefeasibility and feasibility studies across the Group, ensuring a consistent approach to technical and financial elevations;
• Be responsible for developing technical and financial standards, including consistent evaluation methods for the studies;
• Develop and evaluate sustainable solutions for operational and strategic projects;
•  Conduct early-stage scoping and concept studies to inform strategic decision-making;
• Work closely with internal resources and external consultants to leverage expertise and insights for project execution;
• Foster a collaborative environment to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of project delivery;
• Manage the timely delivery of projects, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards, and align with the strategic goals of the organisation;

About you:

• Extensive proven senior leadership experience in underground and open-pit mining, with a strong background in studies and project management
• Relevant degree in mining engineering or a related discipline
• Proven track record in managing prefeasibility and feasibility studies, demonstrating a solid understanding of technical and financial evaluation methods
• Demonstrated experience with Resource & Reserves estimate process
• Technical expertise in mining processes, project management methodologies, and sustainable practices
• Proficiency in XERAS and Deswik
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information in an accessible manner
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong organisational skills, with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Spanish proficiency desirable
