Reporting to the VP Mining and Long-Term Planning, this senior leadership role provides strategic oversight of the Mining Studies function, delivering mining studies from Scoping through to PFS and FS. The role partners with senior leaders to ensure disciplined mining study engineering outcomes with transparent decision-making criteria aligned with Gold Fields’ long-term strategic objectives and the Capital and Projects framework.

This is a Perth-based role and is offered on 5 days on, 2 days off, or ask about our flexible working arrangements.

      About the role:

   Lead the Group Mining Studies function to deliver high-quality, consistent outcomes aligned with the Gold Fields Way, technical requirements, and long-term strategy The role is accountable for delivering mining studies across all stages, from Scoping through to PFS and FS, supporting reserves growth, asset optimisation, decarbonisation initiatives, and ESG commitments.

   Working in close partnership with Assets, Long-Term Planning, Capital & Projects, and senior stakeholders, the position ensures alignment across Strategic, Operational, and Life-of-Mine plans. Oversight of ore reserves, mine design, scheduling, reporting, and financial evaluation ensures robust, compliant, and value-accretive mining project outcomes. The role also builds and leads a high-performing mining engineering team and consultant network, effectively managing resources, budgets, risks, and peer reviews while fostering collaboration, capability development, and a strong safety and values-driven culture.

We are seeking an experienced senior leader, with both underground and surface mining expertise. Your background includes leading and delivering mining studies, with strong capability in financial evaluation as well as broad mining technical knowledge.

A Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) will support your mining studies experience, and you will have a proven record of leading high-performing teams to drive excellence in mine planning and design and consistently deliver quality and timely mining studies.
