How You’ll Make an Impact

Collaborating with the Unit Manager: Underground Mining, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all facets of the underground operations to meet all safety, production, and cost targets, whilst ensuring that all mining and planning activities support and are driven by the short, medium and long term needs of the mine and fully aligned with the strategic goals and objectives of the business unit.

 

This role is offered 8 days on 6 days off roster, FIFO from Perth or residential in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie. Designated transportation is provided to and from the site for residential candidates, and relocation assistance will be offered to the successful candidate if required.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Ensure all statutory requirements are met per the WA Work Health and Safety Act & Regulations.
  • Collaborate and deliver the safe production and development activities of the mine, taking into consideration the long-term requirements of the mine as well as responding to the daily requirements, to achieve the budget.
  • Monitor development, stoping and mining projects' progress against monthly and quarterly targets.
  • Oversee mine schedules of all mining activities to create accurate forecasts and budgets to achieve the mine budget. Ensure all reporting and actions in relation to safety and environmental incidents are completed within appropriate deadlines.
  • Actively manage Business Partners and short-term contractors to ensure safe production and delivery.
  • Provide input into mine planning, projects, infrastructure, ventilation, survey and geotechnical requirements of the mine to ensure safe production.
  • Develop continuous improvement targets and drive and measure the achievement of these targets.
  • Promote a positive culture of teamwork, high performance and accountability, both within the Mining team, Business Partners and across all departments.

What You Bring?

We are seeking an experienced senior leader, as well as for you to hold a WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency in WA. Your background includes an underground mining environment with experience in large scale mechanised, long-hole stoping, as well as a strong capability in contractor management and business partner engagement. 

 

A Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) will complement your practical experience, and you will have a proven record of leading high-performing teams, driving safety, and consistently delivering operational excellence.
