Our surface mining team have an opportunity for Technician: Polywelder to join their team at St Ives.

 

Role Details:

Reporting to the Supervisor: Drill & Blast, you will be responsible for providing quality maintenance and repairs to poly pipelines, diesel pumps as used for dewatering in open cut mining operations. Assist in other areas of the operation as required ensuring operational targets are met in a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner. Be aligned with Gold Fields operation specific quality procedures and statutory regulations

This role can be offered as residential in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie on a 8 days on, 6 days off roster. Bus transportation is offered to and from site for residential candidates and relocation assistance will be offered to the successful candidate if required.

About the role:

  • Install and maintain poly pipelines, diesel pumping systems, and associated plant (valving/control) for open cut mining operations. Fabricate (polyweld) pipelines and components for open pit mine dewatering systems.
  • Meet maintenance budget targets by scheduled inspections, servicing, adjustments, troubleshooting and timely repairs.
  • Providing accurate maintenance knowledge and practical application to minimise down time and potential loss of production.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all task instructions and procedures. Ensure procedures are adhered to when carrying out maintenance tasks, assisting colleagues to do the same.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping throughout workshops to ensure a safe work environment and effectively manage risks.
  • Administrative processing associated with maintenance duties, such as requisitioning of parts and materials, processing of maintenance orders, and recording of labour time.  Use of SAP and other relevant information management (IT) systems.

 

About you:

  • Completion of secondary education – year 10
  • C Class Drivers Licence or HR desirable
  • Certificate (PMBWELD301B) Butt welding of pipelines and piping components in accordance with the Australian Guidelines
  • Certificate in electro fusion or extrusion welding techniques (PMBWELD302B) or (PMBWELD309A) (Desirable)
  • Trade qualification would be highly desirable
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Crane, Dogging, EWP and Forklift Tickets will further strengthen your application
