Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will be responsible for facilitating the optimal extraction of gold ore from mining operations through the provision of comprehensive underground mine planning, design, evaluation, and scheduling that achieves the requirements of the business in alignment with EHS standards.

This is offered on 8 days on, 6 days off roster and is FIFO from Perth.

About the role:

  • Ensure the business can make informed decisions by identifying, planning, and communicating extraction strategies, critical paths and high-exposure areas as part of an iterative scenario planning process

  • Undertake underground medium and long-term mine design, scheduling and evaluation work, including the design of all aspects of an underground mine including ventilation, dewatering, backfill, electrical and other infrastructure systems.

  • Ensure that all members of the mining team have a clear understanding and direction of objectives through the coordination of regular planning meetings; ensuring deliverables are accurately recorded and distributed

  • Manage, support and help grow other planning engineer team members for future success

  • Optimise systems, processes and practices by reviewing and identifying areas for improvement

  • Liaise with operational departments to ensure the planning process delivers operational requirements, whilst developing and strengthening relationships with other departments

  • Actively participate in operational reviews of performance to constantly improve the mine planning processes

  • Ensure maximum return on investment by carrying out optimization, design and evaluation work, calculating ore reserves by established planning policies such as cut-off grades and legislative requirements

 

About you:

  • Degree Qualification in Mining Engineering

  • First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency is desirable.

  • Extensive underground mining experience with excellent knowledge in the fields of production, ventilation, projects, paste fill, planning and scheduling.

  • Exposure to a variety of different ore body types and models – preferably utilising long hole open stoping mining methods with paste fill

  • Experience with managing contract mining service providers

  • Experience using Microsoft Office, Deswik CAD and Scheduler

  • Valid Driver’s Licence
