Role Details

Reporting to the Manager: Mining, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the underground operations to meet all safety, production, and cost targets at Agnew. You shall ensure that all mining and planning activities support, and are driven by, the short, medium, and long-term needs of the mine and fully aligned with the strategic goals and objectives of the business unit and Company.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring site and department targets are met in a safe, efficient manner following GF standards, and fully compliant with relevant legislative and statutory requirements.

 

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

About the role:

  • Consistently lead and act in a manner that demonstrates commitment to the safety culture and performance of Gold Fields

  • Manage and support the performance of all direct reports to ensure they can deliver expected outcomes.

  • Manage and oversee the production and development activities of the mine, taking into consideration the long-term requirements of the mine as well as responding to the daily requirements, to achieve the budget.

  • Monitor the completion of works to ensure that they are undertaken following the expectations detailed in the plan and implement timely remedial action when required.

  • Monitor development, stoping and mining projects’ progress against weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets.

  • Maximise mined recovery and minimise dilution in stoping activities.

  • Instigate improvements and ensure requirements and proposals of the underground operations are considered by the Mining Manager by openly promoting, supporting, and sharing suggestions and ideas.

  • Oversee the preparation of schedules of mining activities to create accurate forecasts and budgets by ensuring that the development schedule is matched to the production requirements.

About you:

  • Completed Tertiary Degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Mining)

  • WA First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency in WA

  • Significant experience in an underground mining environment

  • Extensive experience in a senior/supervisory operational role with proven experience in utilising your WA First Class Mine Managers Certificate

  • Demonstrated experience in providing leadership, managing training/development, career progression and performance management of personnel.
