Gruyere Gold Mine, a Gold Fields and Gold Road Resources Joint Venture (50/50) located in the Yamarna Greenstone Belt in Western Australia. This newly constructed mine site is one of Australia’s largest and lowest cost gold mining operations boasting a plant production of 300,000+ ounces per annum with an enviable production profile in excess of 10 years.

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

About the role:
- Manage the day to day activities of the mechanical team inclusive of contractors in a cost effective and efficient manner, ensuring awareness of performance targets, and have access to the necessary tools to achieve these and that their activities are aligned with Company targets.
- Assist with planning and implementation of rolling scheduled shutdowns.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues and address them promptly. Oversee the troubleshooting and diagnosis of mechanical faults and implement effective solutions.
- Demonstrate sound financial acumen by ensuring cost performance is aligned with maintenance budgets and forecast expectations.
- Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of adherence to relevant new maintenance procedures, standard work instructions, processes and technology to ensure the safe and efficient operation of assets.
- Assist the company to achieve production targets through the completion of mechanical projects by demonstrating knowledge in interpreting & understanding of plans, drawings and schedules while systematically coordinating allotted resources to achieve planned outcomes.
- Conduct and lead extensive investigations of break downs and safety incidents.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed in a safe manner and in compliance with standards, regulations, established safe work procedures, processes and systems.
- Ensure organisational capability and a quality orientation by the utilisation of relevant reports using SAP / AMT or similar to monitor reliability, availability and cost effectiveness of all assets under control.
- Provide ongoing leadership and mentoring for the mechanical maintenance team through effective use of the Performance Management System to provide regular, constructive feedback on performance, improve individual development and capability and enhance employee engagement, productivity and job satisfaction.
- Demonstrate full compliance with the OHS and Environmental Management Systems’ standards by developing and participating in initiatives; leading toolbox meetings; investigations; training; assisting with the implementation; and participating in and contributing to audits.
About you:
- Proven supervisory experience and skills to be greater than 5 years
- Ability to work collaboratively with operations and other departments
- Ability to build a positive image for the department and company by promoting its interests in the community, contributing to appropriate forums in a professional manner.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and commitment to continuous improvement
- Extensive proven and relevant experience with strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems on fixed plant equipment and mechanical systems such as grinding mills, screens, conveyers, crushers, hydraulics and pumps
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written are essential, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team to success
- Australian recognised Mechanical Fitting Trade Qualification
- Manual “C” Class Drivers Licence as a minimum
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Programs such as excel and word
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical maintenance, process technologies and equipment
- Solid Interpersonal, Verbal and Written Communication skills
- Demonstrated High Level of Safety Standards and Work Behaviours
