Gruyere Gold Mine, a Gold Fields and Gold Road Resources Joint Venture (50/50) is in the Yamarna Greenstone Belt in Western Australia. Role Details:

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Senior Engineer: Mine Planning to join their Technical Services department at Gruyere Gold Mine. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will be a key member of the team by planning for the safe and optimal extraction of gold from the mine. Your core function will be to design and schedule all aspects of the operation and be the key conduit between the long term (LTP) and short-term planning (STP) functions.

 

Given the nature of the role, it is open to some flexibility in working arrangements, though regular time on site will be required. On site a regular roster would be 4/3 or 8/6/ 4/3 if preferred.

About the role:

  • Complete Budget and Half-Yearly Mine Planning + Scheduling 

  • Undertake Open Pit Mine designs, including waste dumps and other surface infrastructure

  • Regularly review & update General Mine Planning assumptions 

  • Advance capital projects (including surface + pit infrastructure) to FEED / Execution

  • Coordinate with LTP during Strategic Planning Process 

  • Review of Mine Projects (Scoping/ PreFeasibility / Feasibility Study) 

  • Operational Readiness support as required

  • Build and maintain cost models, including using XERAS 

  • Delivering Presentations + Reporting to broad stakeholder groups

  • Mining Contractor tender analysis (inc. equipment assumptions/review)

  • Labour Modelling for Mining Operations

  • Support and backfill for Senior Planning Engineers as required

  • Training and Mentorship of Planning Engineers

  • Assist and participate in the annual Mineral Resources/Ore Reserve Reporting Process

  • Design / Improve / Maintain Medium Term Mine Planning Process including interfaces between LTP and STP

  • Critically review Block model updates

  • Stakeholder engagement, including with Joint Venture partners and mining contractors.

 

 

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering

  • Extensive open pit engineering experience (planning and operational)

  • Understanding of mining and environmental approvals

  • Proficient in mining software such as Alastri, Deswik, and Microsoft Office

  • Possess a valid WA “C” Driver’s Licence
