Gold Fields is currently seeking an Advisor: injury Management to join the Employee Relations Team in the Perth Office.  As the Advisor: Injury Management, your role is to contribute to organisational capability by providing subject matter expertise on workplace injury management and rehabilitation practices in partnership with the worker, site personnel, insurers, and medical and allied health providers.

 

Gold Fields has a well-established and effective injury management and claims program based on early intervention and partnering with key internal and external stakeholders. The Advisor: Injury Management role is integral to this program and Gold Fields’ continuous success in minimising the negative impact injuries and illnesses have on our employees and the business.

This is a part-time fixed-term contract for 18 months for parental leave cover working in our Perth Office, with regular trips to our 4 mine sites, providing service to all Gold Fields’ Australian operations. About the role:

  • Provide technical expertise and negotiate and influence stakeholders to facilitate a best practice approach to injury management and achieve timely sustainable outcomes for the business whilst promoting the well-being of the worker.

  • Coordinate and arrange medical appointments to ensure early intervention, appropriate management, and expeditious return to work.

  • Attend doctor and specialist appointments to provide support to employees and ensure rehabilitation objectives are achieved.

  • Be the primary point of contact with insurers and service providers and facilitate a conduit for information flow from the sites.

  • Manage the performance of external service providers to ensure key rehabilitation objectives are met.

  • Monitor, review and communicate the company’s injury management and claims performance and provide advice and support to ensure successful return to work outcomes, claim outcomes and reduction in insurance premiums.

  • Conduct reporting on injuries, claims and other key metrics to meet strategic objectives.

  • Provide advice and support to organizational initiatives about health, well-being, and employee relations.

 

 

About you:

  • Degree-level qualification in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology or other similar Allied Health qualification

  • Completion of (or can complete) a recent First Aid qualification and Mental Health First Aid training.

  • Prior experience in a similar role in the mining or mineral processing industry

  • High attention to detail and adept communication and influencing skills.

  • Demonstrated understanding and application of workers’ compensation legislation, as well as best practice claims and injury management principles.

  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Office applications

  • Current Driver’s Licence
