Role Details:
Reporting to the Vice President External Affairs (Australia), you will provide guidance, leadership, and expertise to Gold Fields’ Australian operations and growth projects in engaging and communicating with key stakeholder groups including government, media and industry associations. You will be accountable for the development and delivery of the Australian stakeholder engagement strategy and the Australian communications strategy. You’ll be immediately surrounded by a small, dynamic external affairs team that is part of a global function delivering on Gold Fields’ purpose – to deliver enduring value beyond mining.

This role is offered on a 9-day compressed fortnight roster at our Perth corporate office on a permanent basis. Open to flexible and job share arrangements and will consider part time for the right candidate.

About the role:

Develop and manage government relations, public policy, media, and external communications objectives as part of Australia's stakeholder engagement plan.

Identify and execute media and external communications activities for Gold Fields’ projects, including content preparation and approvals for strategic channels.

Align and support Gold Fields' global communication strategy by coordinating in-country communication plans and contributing content.

Lead crisis communication efforts within Australia and managing material issues through identification, monitoring, and responding.

Plan and execute stakeholder engagement across media, government, and industry bodies and support community engagement efforts.

Manage and develop major partnerships in Australia, aligning them with Gold Fields’ Purpose and supporting the brand strategy.

Leverage social investment activities to promote Gold Fields’ commitment to host communities and partners through innovative communication.

Identify industry association memberships/forums, coordinating participation to support regional public policy and reputation goals.
About you:

Hold a relevant qualification in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or similar (or the equivalent experience)

Experience in defining and implementing stakeholder management plans that contribute to the overall social license to operate of an organisation or industry

Experienced in collaborating, as an integral member of a multifunctional team

Ideally have exposure and experience in corporate affairs including media relations and external communications

Ideally hold mining company and/or exploration projects experience
