Senior Specialist Resource Geologist

Role Details:
Reporting to the Senior Manager Strategic Planning, you will be responsible for assessing and where applicable generating, geological models, mineralisation models and grade estimates for strategic planning scenarios (long term growth opportunities with a high level of unknowns) and key strategic projects identified across the portfolio.

This role is offered on a Monday to Friday or 9 day fortnight roster at our Perth corporate office on a permanent basis with travel domestically and internationally.

About the role:
-
Develop conceptual geological models (from aspirational to advanced levels and complexity) for use in strategic planning scenarios for the assets;

Generate conceptual resource estimations including simulation through application of geostatistical techniques and fit-for-purpose estimation/ simulation methodologies;

Utilise 3D modelling skills and an understanding of different mineral deposits, incorporating visualisation of what the full potential of an ore system could be, at times based on sparce data;

Produce high-quality, accurate resource models, considering the financial impacts on mining and exploration decisions;

Undertake other technical work as required to support the strategic planning process, growth and portfolio scenarios;

Conduct site visits, both domestically and internationally;

Stay current with advancements in geological modelling and resource estimation methodologies;

Work independently and collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary project teams.
About you:
-
Bachelor of Science in Geology;
-
Membership status of an internationally recognised professional body for the mining and/or exploration industry (eg. AusIMM, AIG, CCPG, SME, SAIMM);

Extensive experience within the industry including operational and resource geology, preferably in both underground and open pit production environments with exploration experience advantageous;

Strong geological interpretation skills with the ability to apply this to Resource estimation;

Experience with modem implicit modelling tools, advanced geostatistical methods, linear estimation, recoverable estimation and simulation techniques;

Understanding of mining grade control practices and model reconciliation processes;

Financial acumen and understanding of business drivers;

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport to a deliver a project collaboratively;

The role requires a strategic mindset, with the ability to think analytically, anticipate risks, opportunities and develop solutions to complex problems with minimal data.
