Role Details:
Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Leading Hand: Mechanical (Fixed) to join their Engineering Maintenance department at St Ives Gold Mine.
Reporting to the Coordinator: Mechanical (Fixed), you will be responsible for the effective execution and supervision of mechanical maintenance related issues on site to enable achievement of budgeted production targets, meeting all quality standards including cost, safety and environment.

This role can be offered as residential in Kambalda or Kalgoorlie on a 9 days on, 5 days off roster. Bus transportation is offered to and from site for residential candidates and relocation assistance will be offered to the successful candidate if required.

About the role:
- Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviours are adhered to at all times.
- Supervise the day to day activities of the maintenance team inclusive of contractors in a cost effective and efficient manner, ensuring awareness of performance targets, and have access to the necessary tools to achieve these and that their activities are aligned with Company targets
- Ensure that the activities of maintenance personnel are consistently aligned with meeting operational targets by conducting regular inspections and audits specifically checking compliance of established standards and procedures in relation to safety & production issues
- Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of adherence to relevant new maintenance procedures, processes and technology to ensure the safe and efficient operation of assets by providing input based on previous experiences
- Ensure minimal disruption to production through the ready access to critical parts & equipment and service providers by developing and maintaining good working relationships with external companies and having contingency plans in place to source these at short notice if required
- Consistently reinforce VB (Vital Behaviours) through involvement and implementation of initiatives to achieve best practice in terms of occupational health risks, lifestyle initiatives and hygiene management and promote the reduction of incidents on site by focusing on behaviours, actions and attitudes to ensure that a culture is developed whereby the workforce believes that all injuries and incidents can be prevented
About you:
- Recognised Trade qualification and or Supervisory qualification
- Proven experience in mineral processing environment
- 5 years minimum post trade experience
- Knowledge and application of relevant statutory obligations
- Supervisory/Management training is desirable
- Sound understanding of Fixed Plant Equipment of Mills, conveyors and mill pumps.
- SAP and AMT experience is desirable
