Senior Operator Surface Mining

Role Details

Gold Fields – St Ives is currently seeking a Senior Operator: Surface Mining to join their Surface Mining department.

Reporting to the Supervisor: Surface Production, you will be responsible for the effective execution and supervision of Surface Mining related issues when required to enable achievement of budgeted production targets, meeting all quality standards including cost, safety and environment.

This role is offered on a 4 days on, 4 nights on, 6 days off roster and would require the incumbent to be residential in Kalgoorlie or Kambalda.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the Vital Behaviors are adhered to at all times
• Supervise the day to day activities of the Surface Production team inclusive of contractors in a cost effective and efficient manner when required, ensuring awareness of performance targets, and have access to the necessary tools to achieve these and that their activities are aligned with Company targets
• Ensure minimal disruption to Surface production through the ready access to critical parts & equipment and service providers by developing and maintaining good working relationships with external companies and having contingency plans in place to source these at short notice if required
• Operate Equipment when required
• Provide ongoing leadership and mentoring for direct reports assisting the Surface Production Supervisor in the effective use of the Performance Management System that provides regular, constructive feedback on performance, improve individual development and capability and enhance employee engagement, productivity and job satisfaction

Key factors to your success include:

• Current HR Driver’s License
• Can Operate PC3000 or equivalent, operate 375 Komatsu Dozer or equivalent
• Previous experience in a leadership role in a surface production environment, including performance development
• Knowledge and application of relevant statutory obligations
• Sound understanding of plant, equipment, mobile machinery in Surface mining operations: Komatsu fleet experience highly regarded
