Underground Projects Coordinator

Role Details

      Gold Fields – St Ives is currently seeking a Coordinator: Underground Projects to join their mining team.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer Projects, you will be assisting with effective management and supervision of project engineering related activities on site to enable achievement of the budgeted capital projects portfolio, meeting all quality standards including cost, safety and environment.

       This role is offered on 8 days on 6 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

About the role:

• Ensure Projects Department functions are adequately supported by coordinating all facets of projects; including developing and utilising appropriate processes and guidelines to assist in the achievement of this objective
• Ensure consistency and transferability of technical work ensuring that design intent is implemented in an efficient and cost effective manner and that there is a satisfactory interface with other applicable systems
• Assist with preparation and ongoing management of Projects Department budgets
• Demonstrate good commercial acumen by preparing quality submissions for capital expenditure using appropriate templates and methodology
• Develop, implement and monitor adherence to appropriate new procedures, processes and technology to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of projects
• Assist in the achievement of successful mining capital projects by providing expert guidance and technical input into all project scopes. Projects will include mine infrastructure - dewatering, water supply, second means of egress (escape-ways), primary and secondary ventilation, heat management (refrigeration), paste filling activities.
• Manage the site capital projects list to ensure accurate monthly reports detailing key project milestones and capital expenditure against plan
• Playing a senior role in developing and maintaining a diverse and inclusive work environment where all employees feel welcome and have the potential to excel
• Knowledge in liaising and maintaining contracts. Supporting management in creating accurate scope of works to establish project agreements.

        About You:

        Proven supervisory and operational experience in an underground mining environment – preferably gold

• Possession of an Underground Supervisors Certificate of Competency
• Ideally a qualification in Project Management
• Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Exposure to mining software such as Deswik and SAP would be advantageous
• A valid Driver’s License
